  • About Boatkeeper

Growing up in the small Queensland town of Mission Beach Boatkeeper has woven the coastal sounds of a salt drenched youth into his own brand of indie folk. Days spent experimenting in the filtered sunlight of palm trees have infused the Singer/Songwriter’s sound, with an impressive ability to transport his audience to the sunshine and surf.

Boatkeeper introduced himself in a momentous way with the hugely successful debut EP “Windward”. After being added to key Spotify playlists, the EP quickly amassed over 2 million streams and gained attention from Triple J Unearthed and the wider European and US markets.

Triple J’s Dave Ruby Howe described the lead single as “Very clean folk pop. Not without its charms.”

For the sophomore EP, the troubadour teamed up with ARIA award winning producer, Govinda Doyle (Angus & Julia Stone) in his famous water tank studio to begin recording the heavily anticipated follow-up “Vessels”.  The darker release received Triple J airtime and saw Boatkeeper play countless shows along the East Coast selling out Brisbane and Melbourne. The wave of success continued supporting Sydney folk outfit Sons of The East and James Tyne-Organ while playing slots at Surfers Paradise Live Festival, Neck of the Woods and Hidden Lanes Festival.

Music Is My Muse said of the live show “Boatkeeper put crowd at instant ease with an invitation to “chill out”, he provided warm, honest, witty and intimate storytelling.”

For his latest single “Breach”, Boatkeeper has teamed up with producer, Garrett Kato (Ziggy Alberts/Pete Murray), ARIA-winning mix engineer Adrian Breakspear (Boy & Bear/Sons of the East) and Ben Feggans (Mall Rat/Vera Blue) on mastering duties. The track sees the Singer/Songwriter return to his indie folk sound and beach-side roots.
